A Dark Side of the Food szerves folytatása a Market (2018) sorozatomnak, mely arra vállalkozott, hogy a maguk mindennapi esetlegességében, tökéletlenségében mutasson be olyan élelmiszer-alapanyagokat, melyekre a hétköznapi életben kevésbé figyelünk fel. Izgalmas folyamat és kísérlet kiemelni őket a mindennapokból, és áthelyezni egy másik síkra: az esztétikaira.
A Dark Side of the Food olyan ételalapanyagokat mutat be, melyek a mindennapi életben megosztónak számítanak. Az urbanizáció előrehaladtával egyre több élelmiszer-alapanyag kerül szimbolikusan “tiltólistára”, hiszen olyan életvitelbeli, fogyasztási karaktert képviselnek, mely már nem, vagy csak kevésbé egyeztethető össze napjaink gasztrotrendjeivel.
Az archaikus technika alkalmazásaval (13×18-as röntgenfilm / ezüst zselatin kontakt) mindez látványos feszültségbe kerül a mai vizuális trendekkel is, kísérletibb vagy visszatekintőbb aspektusba helyezve absztrahálódik, így akár Talbot vagy Weston nyomában vizsgálhatjuk a piaci portékákat.
The Dark Side of Food
Dark Side of the Food is an organic continuation of my Market series which aimed at showing different items of food along with their everyday imperfections which we take little notice of in ordinary life. It is an exciting experiment and process to take them from their normal environment / function and place them on to another plain: the aesthetic.
Dark Side of the Food shows foods which count as rather divisive in everyday life. Along with the progress of urbanization, more and more kinds of food end up on a symbolic ‘blacklist’ for representing such consumption and lifestyle characters which are no longer – or only to a little extent – compatible with our current trends in gastronomy.
By using somewhat archaic technology (13×18 roentgen film / silver gelelatin contact) they get into a kind of spectacular tension with the visual trends of today, they are abstracted and placed into a more experimental and retrospective aspect. Therefore, we can examine the goods on the market following in the footsteps of Talbot and Weston
