Az új LEICA D-LUX 2 egy 8 MP-es kompakt digitális fényképezőgép. A Leicától megszokott gyönyörű LEICA DC VARIO-ELMARIT 6.3-25.2 f/2.8-4.9 ASPH lencsével (9 lencse, 8 csoportban, 3 ASPH taggal), 28 – 112 mm (35mm formátumban) gyújtótávolsággal.
A fényképezőgépet manuálisan is éppen olyan jól lehet használni mint automatikus üzemmódokban. A fényképezőgép egy un. O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilization), optikai képstabilizátorral van felszerelve és egy, fényerős 2,5 colos (207.000 pixeles) kijelzővel. Különböző képkivágási formák külön érdekessé teszik ezt a kicsi, de erős gépet.
Mindezek a jellemzők újra egy letisztult és a Leica családba szorosan illeszkedő formát és minőséget hoztak létre.
