Highway to Heaven: (90 minutes) The story takes our intrepid travellers to the Karakoram Highway in Pakistan, the highest altitude highway in the world. In some ways, it is the modern version of the ancient Silk Road connecting east and west, linking Pakistan to China and brings together the Muslim tribes living in the Karakoram. Amazingly, along this road, this territory was an independent principality until 1974, the so called Hunza Mir”s Land. It”s the homeland of fierce horse riding warrior tribes. Peter Banai enjoys the first Silk Road Festival that has been organized just when the expedition spent time in the Hunza capital, Karimabad. You”ll see it all in this rough and tumble documentary that captures the day to day lives of these people. Gaining insight to this among people living in the Shimshal valley is incredibly interesting. This is Pakistan”s last truly reclusive territory. It is where the Momhil glacier is, with the 6,175 meters high Ambarin Sar peak on the west, the destination of the expedition. ! After a successful first ascent, the leading member of the team took out his snowboard as a quicker means of coming down…

Hard Days on Cho Oyu: (54 minutes) In 2004, Peter Banai took his camera and climbing gear to make the ultimate in low budget independent movie on climbing the 8,201m Cho Oyu in Tibet, the 6th highest peak in the world. Experience the challenges of the mountain alone: fighting the gales, the lack of oxygen and the danger of frostbite. The film a personal look at mountain climbing filled with interviews as Peter tries to understand life above the clouds. Peter in his usual candid style lifts the gloss off the mountain climbing experience to show the down and dirty business of making it to the top. A special moment is recorded as a German climber becomes trapped at 7,000 meters! Moreover, the expedition gives an authentic picture of the nomads living in Central Tibet which is under Chinese occupation.
