Virtual Tour: Brittany & Mont St Michel
augusztus 25 @ 23:00 - augusztus 26 @ 00:30 CEST
Brittany (Bretagne in French) is home to one of the most distinctive regional cultures in all of France. Situated on a windswept peninsula on the coast in the North West of the country, the Breton people keep close links to their Celtic language, history, and culture. Famous for beautiful coastlines, salty and buttery treats (not to mention their distinctive and delicious galettes), apple cider, and the warm and welcoming hospitality, Brittany offers a vibrant bridge between the culture of France and that of the other country across the channel from where the region gets its name.
From the Carnac Megalithic standing stones to the stunning walled coastal town of St Malo, Brittany is rich in history. On this tour, we will explore the beautiful town of St Malo and its pirate culture, the scenic and quaint Crozon peninsula, the Belle-Ile-en-Mer (“beautiful island in the ocean”); Quiberon and its options for outdoor life and the beautiful medieval town of Dinan. We will also cross over the region line into neighboring Normandy, to visit the beautiful tidal island monastery of Mont St Michel, which sits in a bay shared by the two regions.
We will also taste our way around Brittany, covering many local delicacies and touch on the rich artistic history and folk culture of the Breton people.
Attendance is free but tips are appreciated.
