OLAJOS Ilka: Panel
A szocialista realizmus sok más közép- és kelet-európai országhoz hasonlóan Lengyelországban is megkerülhetetlen volt: Łódź városképébe is beépült az ideologikus építészeti stílus. A modernizmus és konstruktivizmus jegyében született lakótelepek a nem megfelelő módon kialakított terek ellenére ma nosztalgikus, szerethető „világgá” szelídültek a szemünkben. Olajos Ilka képein olyan egzotikus, nosztalgikus látvány tárul elénk, ahol a részletekben az iparváros múltja, a II. világháború okozta károk is megmutatkoznak.

Ilka OLAJOS: Panel buildings
Like in many other Central and Eastern European countries socialist realism was inevitable in Poland – the ideological architectural style was also embedded in the cityscape of Łódź. The housing estates that were built in the spirit of modernism and constructivism have a hint of the nostalgic atmosphere, and they’re also very lovable in a certain way despite being inadequate and uncomfortable. From Ilka Olajos’s photographs, we can get a taste of the nostalgic and exotic scene of this polish industrial city, where the details reveal the past with the damage caused by the Second World War.

The exhibition will be opened by Viola Pleskovics.
The exhibition can be visited until 28th of April 2022, every weekday from 10 AM to 6 PM
