Kovács Bálint veszprémi fotós japán utazása során sok turistával ellentétben nem a klasszikus módját választotta élményei megörökítésének. A megannyi természeti és épített kincs dokumentálása mellett fényképezőgépével a japán emberek mindennapjaira fókuszált. Hosszú évek sajtófotós tapasztalatával felvértezve így sikerült egy olyan fotósorozatot elkészítenie, ami betekintést enged a távol-keleti ország lakosainak mindennapjaiba. Olyan apró momentumokba, egyszerű szokásokba, amelyek európai szemmel sokszor meghökkentően hatnak, Japánban mégis az átlagos hétköznapok óraműpontos rutinjába tartoznak.

A Japán ezer arca – a tradíció és modernitás határán című fotókiállítás egy izgalmas utazást kínál Ázsia legkeletibb csücskébe, ahol az idegenvezető szerepét a fotós kollégája és barátja vállalta magára. Hajas Bálint újságíró rendhagyó útikönyv bejegyzéseivel kíséri el a látogatókat Tokió belvárosi forgatagából egészen a Fudzsi hegy lábáig és a Mikomoto-szigeten dolgozó gyöngyhalászokig.

A kép és szöveg együttese így repít át a fél világon és mutatja be az ezerarcú Japánt veszprémi szemüvegen keresztül.

Unlike many tourists, Veszprém-based photographer Bálint Kovács chose a non-traditional way to capture his experiences during his journey through Japan. In addition to documenting the countless natural and man-made treasures, he used his camera to focus on the everyday lives of Japanese people. Drawing on his many years of experience as a press photographer, he succeeded in creating a photo series that offers a glimpse into the daily life of this Far Eastern country—showcasing those small moments and simple habits that often seem astonishing from a European perspective but are simply part of the precise, clockwork routine of an ordinary weekday in Japan.

Titled Japan of a Thousand Faces – On the Border of Tradition and Modernity, the photo exhibition offers an exciting journey to the easternmost corner of Asia, where Kovács’s colleague and friend took on the role of tour guide. Journalist Bálint Hajas accompanies visitors—from the bustling heart of downtown Tokyo all the way to the foot of Mount Fuji and to the pearl divers on Mikomoto Island—through his unconventional travelogue entries.

Together, the images and text transport you halfway around the world, presenting this “thousand-faced” Japan through a Veszprém lens.
