A MEGTALÁLT IDŐ – A MÚLT JELENVALÓSÁGA GEORGIÁBAN

“A kiállítás fotográfiai szekciójának képeit is az ember és idő személyes, belső történetként elmesélhető viszonyrendszere köti össze. Ádám kameráját a számunkra távoli természeti csodák, szakrális emlékek és hétköznapi emberek között járva is a mélyen meggyőződéses humanizmus vezeti. Az ipari társdalomban megszokott könyörtelen és célorientált idő-gépezettel szemben szinte halljuk a képekből sugárzó, belsőleg megtapasztalt végtelen pillanatot, amely a világot tőlünk függetlenül formáló erők játéka.

Balogh Ádám festő- és fotóművész alkotásai között különleges sorozatot jelentenek a Georgia felfedezését nyújtó fényképek. Az ország modern történelmére, és így mások általi megértésére is rányomja bélyegét a 20. század traumáinak súlyos tapasztalata, így sokan elfelejtik, hogy a Fekete-tengertől keletre lakó közösségeknek mindig is birodalmak között kellett túlélniük. Georgia lakóinak együtt kellett élniük egy sajátos – a fényképeken lenyűgöző – természeti környezettel, és meg kellett találniuk a hangot a tenger felől vagy keleti kultúrákból, észak vagy a nomádok irányából érkezőkkel, így sajátos hagyományokat alakítottak ki. Az időtlen múlt hegycsúcsaitól a korai kereszténység emlékein át a gyorsuló modernitásig az idő különböző ritmusai fonódnak egybe, ha valaki nyitottan járja be Georgiát.

Time Rediscovered – The Presence of the Past in Georgia

The exhibition will be officially opened by H.E. Mrs. Tamara Liluashvili, Ambassador of Georgia and Guest of Honour, who will deliver welcome remarks.

The keynote speaker of the exhibition is Péter Antalffy historian.

“The photographic section of the exhibition is also unified by a personal, internalized relationship between humans and time. Whether photographing distant natural wonders, sacred relics, or everyday people, Balogh’s camera is guided by a deeply held humanism. In contrast to the industrial age’s relentless and goal-oriented machine of time, his images radiate an internally experienced, infinite moment—one that captures the play of forces shaping the world beyond our control.

Time Rediscovered – The Presence of the Past in Georgia

Among Balogh Ádám’s paintings and photographs, the series documenting the discovery of Georgia stands out as particularly special. The country’s modern history—and therefore its interpretation by outsiders—is deeply shaped by 20th century’s traumas. As a result, it is often forgotten that communities east of the Black Sea have always had to survive between empires. The people of Georgia have had to coexist with a unique natural environment—strikingly captured in these photographs—and find common ground with those arriving from the sea, from Eastern cultures, the north, or from nomadic traditions, thereby developing distinctive customs of their own.

From the timeless mountain peaks of the past through early Christian relics to the accelerating pace of modernity, different rhythms of time intertwine for those who explore Georgia with an open mind.

With sincerity and openness, Adam Balogh approaches the nature and inhabitants of a world that has been in dialogue with European civilization, with a capital C, since antiquity.”
