Az elevator pitch vagy elevator chat a vállalati kultúra területén kifejlődött, monológ vagy dialógus formájú villámprezentációs technika, amely segítségével néhány mondatban adunk át lényeges információt magunkról vagy egy projektről a hallgatóságunknak. Manapság már nemcsak az irodaházi liftben hangzanak el ilyen beszédek, beszélgetések, hanem számos olyan szituációban, amelyben rövid idő alatt kell felhívnunk a figyelmet arra, kik vagyunk és mivel foglalkozunk. A fiatal, feltörekvő fotográfusok is sokszor kerülnek abba a helyzetbe a művészeti kanonizációs folyamat során, hogy meg kell szólítaniuk a vezető intézmények igazgatóit, kurátorait, művészeti írókat, szerkesztőket, gyűjtőket, beérkezett művészkollégákat, valamint a szintén ígéretes pálya előtt álló társaikat. Az elmúlt néhány évben több olyan fotográfiai platform is létrejött Európában, amely lehetőséget ad ehhez hasonló potenciálisan sorsfordító találkozásokra. A 2017-ben indult FUTURES – Európai Fotográfiai Platform is ilyen. Keretében 20 európai ország 20 fotográfiai intézménye működik együtt. A projekt egyik fő célja a figyelemreméltó tehetségek felfedezése és bevezetésük a nemzetközi fotográfiai életbe, azon belül is a műtárgypiacra. A FUTURES-ben részt vevő intézmények évente körülbelül öt-öt feltörekvő alkotót választanak ki, és részükre számos olyan helyzetet teremtenek – kiállítás, kerekasztal-beszélgetés, tutorálás, portfólió konzultáció, workshop – ahol szakmai kapcsolatot tudnak kialakítani különböző fotós szakemberekkel és egymással. A 2025-ös The Elevator Chats 3.0 kiállításon az alkotók emblematikus képeit láthatjuk a legutóbbi projektjükből, mellettük pedig belekukkanthatunk az öt rövid beszélgetésbe, amelyekből, akárcsak egy-egy frappáns interjúból, instant módon tájékozódhatunk arról, hogy milyen aktuális témákról, problémákról gondolkodnak, hogyan alkotnak, és milyen technikával dolgoznak a kontinens fiatal fotós tehetségei.

The elevator pitch or elevator chat is an impromptu self-introduction technique performed in monologic or dialogic form, allowing the speaker to transfer substantial information to theirinterlocutor about themselves or the project they are working on. By today, speeches and talksof this kind have left the office building elevators and gained ground in many other situationsin which we have little time to draw attention to who we are and what we are currentlyengaged in. While they are trying to get approved by The Establishment, it is relativelycommon that young emerging photographers find themselves in situations where they have toaddress directors and curators of leading institutions, art writers, magazine editors, collectors, accomplished artists, and fellow photographers ahead of a promising career. In the last fewyears, several platforms were created for photographers in Europe that provide opportunitiesfor such decisive encounters. One of them is the project FUTURES – European Photography Platform that started in 2017. This cooperation, which connects 20 photography centersacross 20 European countries, set as one of its main goals to scout remarkable new talents and introduce them into the world of international photography, and into the art market inparticular. Each institution participating in FUTURES selects five emerging artists per yearand then creates a number of situations for them–exhibitions, roundtable discussions, tutoring, portfolio reviews, workshops, and virtual events–where they can establish professionalrelationships with people from different areas of expertise within photography, and with eachother. Based on this experience, at The Elevator Chats 3.0 we initiated five online dialoguesbetween ten FUTURES talents, creating five short one-to-one conversations, or elevatorchats. Placed next to one emblematic picture from each artist’s latest project, the five elevatorchats on the wall, like punchy interviews, will provide you with a swift insight into thecurrent issues dealt with, the artistic practices pursued, and the different techniques applied bythe talented emerging photographer.
